GALLEGOS -- Petronila 72, of Questa passed away on February 19, 2011. She was preceded in death by her sons; Johnny and Joey Gallegos; parents, Demetrio and Rosenda Gallegos. She is survived by her husband Adonario Gallegos, children; Rosie Cisneros (Modesto), Donna Trujillo (Mario), Sherry Gallegos, Louise Padilla (George), Donald Gallegos (Patricia), Ronnie Gallegos (Mary) and Connie Manzanares, 15 grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, many other relatives and friends. JACKSON -- Darryl Dean 78, of Los Alamos, NM passed away on Saturday, February 19, 2011 in Albuquerque, NM. He passed away peacefully with his family by his side. Darryl was born on September 2, 1932 in Lexington, Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his mother Minnie Irene Standridge; father Soloman Samson Jackson and sisters Fae Atkinson and Edith Shook. Darryl graduated from South High School in Denver, Colorado in 1950. He attended college at the University of Oklahoma, receiving his BS in 1955 and MS degree in 1956, both in Chemistry. Darryl received his PhD in Radiochemistry from the University of New Mexico in 1968. In 1954 he started working as a summer graduate student at the Los Alamos National Laboratory and hired on permanently in 1956, working at LANL until his retirement in 1998. After retirement, he maintained an office in the CMR building, devoting time to sharing his knowledge with and mentoring members of the actinide analytical chemistry group. Darryl was a Member of the American Chemical Society since 1955, as well as the Institute of Nuclear Materials Management. He was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Los Alamos. Darryl is survived by his wife of 51 years, Doris Corley Jackson of Los Alamos; his son, David Jackson of Santa Fe; his son, Damon Jackson and wife, Julia Jackson of San Diego, CA and cousin Loretta Pursel of Port Hadlock, WA. MARTINEZ -- Joseph 46, born June 19, 1964 passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 19, 2011 in Santa Fe and was surrounded by his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Crecencio Martinez; grandparents, Marcelino and Marina Martinez; brother, Samuel Vialpando; grandparents, Olivama and Andres Martinez; great-grandparents, Pablo and Perfecta Martinez; uncles, Juan and Norberto Martinez, Andres and Ramon Martinez; aunt, Orailie Martinez. Some of Josephs favorite hobbies were riding horses, building and electrician, going for rides and enjoyed swimming. He loved spending time with his family and grandchildren. Joseph is survived by his children, Joseph Jr. and girlfriend Crystal Valdez, Leah Montoya, Stephanie, Jacqueline, Josceline Martinez and their mother, Elizabeth Carrillo; mother, Perfecta Martinez; sisters, Bernadette Vialpando-Kile and husband Kent, Peggy Martinez and partner Judy Bernal; brothers, Dennis, Clarence, Paul Vialpando and his wife Dealla, Francis Kroesen and wife Orlanda; aunts, Mela Salazar, Berlinda Hice and Cecilia Martinez; uncle, Jerry Martinez and wife Reba; nieces, Victoria, Jesse, Shanah, Shyenne, Brianna, Tanya and Mariah; nephews, Josh, Clarence Jr., Francis, Seth, Amos, Jon, Daniel and Samuelito; six grandchildren, Kayla Romero, Destiny Larranaga, Ava Montoya, Janessa Aliyah, Alanna Lexi Martinez and Luke Barber; cousins, Johnny and Annette Sanchez and all the Sanchez families; many more family members in Velarde, La Conava, Lyden, Alcalde, Albuquerque and throughout NM and in Colorado. LECHT -- Leonard A. 90, of Taos, NM, passed away on February 9, 2011. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jane Lecht, his parents, Harry and Sarah Lecht, and by six of his siblings, Esther Lecht, Alice Koret, Bertha Lecht, Sophie Golin, Samuel Lecht, and Morris Lecht. He is survived by his son, David Jonathan Lecht of Los Alamos, and by his sister, Mrs. Goldie Marinsky of Providence, RI. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews scattered throughout the United States. Lecht's parents migrated from Eastern Europe shortly before World War I. They settled in Providence, RI. Lecht was the youngest of eight children. Lecht was a writer, researcher and professor of economics. He wrote a number of books and government reports about economics including "Goals, Priorities, and Dollars," (1967); and "Occupational Choices and Training Needs," (1977). Lecht was involved with many public agencies including congressional committees and other national bodies. Lecht received a BA in sociology in 1942 from the University of Minnesota. He shortly thereafter entered the Army and saw service in the Normandy invasion, the liberation of Paris, and the Battle of the Bulge. After the war ended, he entered Columbia University under the GI Bill. There he majored in economics and received a PhD. His first full-time teaching position was in 1949 at the University of Texas, in Austin. While in Texas he met his future wife, Jane Gillespie. Jane was an editor and writer. They were married in 1951. The Lecht's left Texas when Mr. Lecht took the position as chairman of the economics department at Long Island University. They moved in the early 1960's, when he became Director of the Center for Priority Analysis at the National Planning Association in Washington, D.C. The Center's research was underwritten by the Ford Foundation, the United States Department of Labor, the National Science Foundation, and the US Office of Education. While with the Center, Lecht also taught at Temple University in Philadelphia. In the early 1970's, he joined the Conference Board in New York City as director of Special Projects Research. The Conference Board is an economic and business research organization. While in New York, Lecht also taught at the New School for Social Research. Mr. Lecht retired in 1990 when the Lecht's moved to Taos, where three of Jane's aunts had moved shortly after WWII. The Lecht's preferred Taos to Florida, where many of their New York friends and relatives had retired. Lecht served as a consultant to the Taos County Commission and taught at UNM-Taos. The Lecht's were fond of travel, particularly to China and Mexico. They attended many plays and musical events. Mr. Lecht was an avid photographer. Mrs. Lecht excelled in crossword puzzles. They were both voracious readers, reading a range of subjects from history to murder mysteries. Anyone wishing to make a gift should give to their favorite cause. TRUJILLO -- FABIAN ANGELO 50, HALL OF FAMER, was called home to be with our Lord on Thursday, February 10, 2011. He was born on January 20, 1961 to the late Celestino Trujillo, Sr. and the late Eloisa Parson-Trujillo. He was preceded in death by his parents and his step-daughter, Stormy Cornay. Fabian devoted himself to his daughters, family, friends, students and athletes. He was recently employed by Las Vegas City Schools as an Elementary Physical Education Coach and Cross Country Coach. He was a former basketball coach at Robertson and Wagon Mound High Schools leading both teams to many successful seasons. He is survived by his beloved daughters, Valerie, Kathleen, Celeste and Logan Trujillo; step-daughter, Brooke Cornay and god-daughter, Sarah Bustos; brothers Eloy Trujillo of Las Vegas, Robert Lee Trujillo and Sally of Albuquerque, Celestino Trujillo Jr. and Joanne of Las Vegas, Simon Trujillo and wife Gloria of Las Vegas, John Trujillo and Elaine of Las Vegas, Nick Trujillo and wife Debbie of Las Vegas; sisters Lucy Sedillo and husband Ralph of Albuquerque, Mary Aguilar and husband Mark of Albuquerque, and Dinah Maynes and husband Ben of Las Vegas. Fabian is also survived by his girlfriend, Lori Dominguez of Algodones; nieces and nephews are Angie Trujillo, Paula Trujillo-Reinhardt, Robert Lee Trujillo, Jr., Lee Marvin Trujillo, Sandra Lee Goldberg, Melissa Trujillo, Consuelo Trujillo, Nanette Bustamante, Amy Trujillo, Stephanie Trujillo, John John Trujillo, Christopher Trujillo, Nicaea Chavez, Natasha Juarez-Whitman, Analise Trujillo, Ariana Trujillo, Nadine Hamby, Benjamin Seiler, Sammy Seiler, Ray Sanchez, Steven Sanchez, and numerous great-nieces and nephews; aunts Emily Parson of Las Vegas, Confe Apodaca of Albuquerque, Grace Smith of Pueblo, and special cousins Augustina Perea and Maryann; mothers of his children, Edith Trujillo and Raynee Gerhart. He was a 1980 graduate of West Las Vegas High School where he excelled in cross-country, basketball, and track. He received a scholorship in cross-country to New Mexico Highlands University. His achievements in athletics were four time All-RMAC, four time All-District 7, and NMHU's only four time All-American. He was recognized by the Legislature of New Mexico for Outstanding Achievement in Athletics in 1985. He was inducted into the National NAIA Hall of Fame on November 20, 1993 as well as the NMHU H-Club Hall of Honor in 2002. Fabian loved the outdoors, he enjoyed golf, fishing, camping, hunting and horse races. He also enjoyed spending time with his friends and family. Rosary services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday February 19, 2011 followed by a funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. by Rev. George Salazar at the John A. Wilson Complex on the New Mexico Highlands University Campus in Las Vegas, NM. BARKER -- Laughlin, native Santa Fean, family, business and community leader died on February 9, 2011. BERNAL -- Ralph (Kiko) lifelong resident of Pena Blanca, New Mexico was born May 3, 1933 and passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday February 12, 2011 surrounded by his loving family. Kiko loved spending time with his family and spoiling his grandkids, going fishing and driving through town to visit his friends at the old tire shop. Ralph was a Union Carpenter with Local #1319 and did numerous types of construction all over New Mexico. He was preceded in death by parents; Maximinio and Maria; in-laws, Amalia and Willie Lucero; brother, Andres; sisters, Paubla Garcia and Lola Bernal; and son-in-law, Wilfred Gurule. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Mary Louise Bernal of the family home in Pena Blanca; son, Ralph Bernal Jr. and wife Jayne of Pena Blanca; daughters, Theresa Bernal and husband Eddie Montoya of Bernalillo and Molly Gurule of Pena Blanca; brothers, Manuel Leyba and wife Delfinia of Albuquerque and Polito Bernal of Pena Blanca; sister, Umelia Lucero of Cochiti Pueblo, New Mexico; grandchildren, Melissa, Alfonso, John, and Dominic; great- grandchildren, Analeise, Esteven, Tomas and Kalieya and numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends who loved and will miss him greatly. DURAN -- Johnnie, age 81, a resident of Santa Cruz passed away after a lengthy illness on Wednesday, February 9, 2011. He retired from the New Mexico Department of Transportation as a Physical Plant Manager in 1990. His hobbies were fishing, hunting and gardening. Johnnie was preceded in death by his wife, Elma Duran; son, Ben Quintana; grandchildren: Lena Lujan and Baby Chris Gallegos; parents, Jose and Simmie Duran; grandparents who raised him, Macario Quintana and Gregoria Borrego de Quintana. ORTEGA -- LOURDES, 83, a resident of Santa Fe, passed away on Tuesday, February 8, 2011. Lourdes was born on September 24, 1927 to Antonio and Fedelina Vigil, who precede her in death. She was also preceded in death by her step-mother, Margarita Vigil; son, Reynaldo Ortiz; brothers, Guadalupe and Amarante Vigil. She was a wonderful wife who loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, family was everything. She loved life and going to church and hearing the word of the Lord. She would always have a smile on her face and let everyone know that God loved them. She loved to cook and share her wonderful food with her family, friends and neighbors and anyone that was hungry. She loved to garden, anyone that visited her was welcomed to flowers and beautiful colors. Mom would always give the blessing when anyone was traveling. Mom, we give you our blessing for your trip home to be with our Lord.
